The Voice; Israel

This quick post does not make up for all the weeks I have not updated the blog (and maybe you're relieved?), but here's what I've been doing.

-Today is my first day of work (with children and staff who don't speak much english)
-My hebrew is improving at a rate of SLOW.
-I won an audition for The Voice Israel. It will be this wednesday at 7pm in some random location near Ramat Gan (aka a long bus ride). If I get passed this audition, I'll be happier than I've ever been.
-Since I moved into my apt on Kovshei Hahermon, I've appreciated the large population of Russians--until one *tried* to rip me off. Don't worry, she wasn't successful.
-You have to grow a thick skin when traveling alone on city buses.
-You have to grow a thicker skin when a Chabad man of about 30 follows you home twice and asks to "take your phone."
-Tomorrow Aaron leaves the army, officially, and I will attend his "thing' at the base. I can't believe they're letting me in. Do they know I'm RAISHA CLITORIA JOHNSTON? Of course they do.
- I've already had heat exhaustion, contracted a cold, and survived a week of insomnia. What worse could possibly happen (already regret saying that...)?
-I had shabbat in Jerusalem with cousins, and my aunt was kind enough to teach me the names of some colors and fruits and vegetables.

Time for work. I'll elaborate later, of course.

:-)
