First day in Wichita.

WARNING: This entry was written when tired, hungry, and angry.

Well, here I am in Kansas. I spent last night in Odessa, MO at a creepy hotel that smelled like Indian food and had blood stains on the pillows. For only $45 a night I could sleep, watch one television channel (3), and take a shower only to smell like curry afterwards. On top of that, I fell violently ill last night and slept no more than 4 hours. Too much caffeine?

I woke up at 6 and drove to Wichita to begin apartment hunting at 10. I did that until 3. I called six places, saw three, and decided on one because it was a deal and location I couldn't pass up. 460-480 for TWO bedrooms a mile from campus? This apartment has a fireplace and a balcony. The two other places were one bedroom, unimpressive (as in did not have a fireplace) and were much farther from campus. No matter what you're going to pay at least 400 for a one room. (They also make sure you are earning at least triple your rent which is unfair for last minute, independent students like me)

[I knew I was going to be on my own. But I expected a little bit more from my soon-to-be house buddy. I mean, if I'm finding a place for him too, shouldn't he at least help? That's not too much to ask for.]

I really dislike living out of my car. I mean, I'm at a week hotel (where either I will be murdered or my rental car will be stolen) but I still feel unsettled and frantic, and I don't know fucking anyone. I'm always so excited to relocate, and-don't get me wrong- the traveling is fun, but I am always disappointed by the destination.

Not all the apartment and activities guides in the world will get me familiarized with this city. Those catalogs don't fulfill my interests. I'll have to go exploring on my own.

My biggest concern: Where are all the fucking trees? Will I make friends? (Yeah, that's right I said it. And yes, I'm like the fat new kid looking for someone to sit with at lunch).

Aww this one makes me sad, but I love your new diggs. Your flat looks amazing! I am doing this one in my best English accent.
