I learned how to make curry paste! It's simple, cheap, and all you need is a blender. BAM! Oh, that's already taken? Shit. um. Viola? yeah, Viola.
Depending on what curry you'd like to make, this is what you will need, the basics--
Curry
Cumin
Turmeric
Fennel
Ginger
Half an onion
Garlic
Paneer cheese
Optional
Veggies
Diced tomatoes
Paneer Cheese
Meat/tofu/seafood
Chick peas
I decided to make a spinach curry.
Brown the onions and garlic. After they've shrunk and caramelized, add the spinach (or whatever base you choose. Really this is just a fill in the blank recipe). Add the spices to your liking and let it cook on high for a few minutes.
(bad phone quality, but you get the idea)
This is going to sound strange but put the mix into the blender and blend it until it is a thick paste. We don't want a puree, some chunks of onions and ginger are nice. If you're making a spinach base meal it should look like baby poop (for real, though...).
You're spinach curry paste should look like this:
Yum!
I want to have my own parody of a cooking show where I go into some poor student's kitchen and cook with whatever they have--even if they only have marshmallows, jalapeƱos, and baked beans. Could be so funny.

I love that in place of BAM! You chose VIOLA... a string instrument slightly deeper than the violin. And just like that... VOILA, you had me laughing!
haha, you can take a little bit of my nonsensical randomness with you anywhere you go.
